Statement

I am watercolor artist who paints with a focus on landscapes and streetscape paintings. My interest in art, drawing and painting began at a very young age but I chose to pursue a career in architecture. I studied architecture, art and art history at the University of Minnesota where I received his Bachelor of Architecture degree. In my 30 years of architecture practice I found I could combine my interest in art with a rewarding professional career. Working in the field of architecture I used my drawing skills as a creative means to express ideas and designs. I have now returned to my first love of painting.

I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico and I am a member Signature Member and Past President of the New Mexico Watercolor Society. My paintings have been accepted into the numerous watercolor exhibits. I have received a number awards including 1st Place in the New Mexico Watercolor Society Annual Exhibition 2024, Masterworks New Mexico 2022 - Gallery ABQ Salon Award and the Masterworks of New Mexico 2024 - Miniatures Honorable Mention Award

I am avid plein air painter and a regular participant in several plein air painting groups.

“Watercolor is medium that I find both challenging and rewarding. Expressing the play of light, color and luminosity is a major emphasis in all my work. I like to think that each painting I do is a practice for my next piece. In this way I can continually grow and develop as an artist. A successful painting for me is one that creates a mood or tells a story and moves the viewer’s eye through the painting.”
